Post New PC
Hey i'm ordering my new pc this week need a lil help pls k thx

What's better

(Sckt775)Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8500 CPU @ 3.16GHz 1333FSB 6MB L2
or
(Quad-Core)Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 8MB L2

Both exactly same price,

Also is (QX9650 support) Asus P5QL Pro P43 Chipset LGA775 FSB1600 DDR2/1066/800 Mainboard w/GbLAN,USB2.0,&7.1Audio good?

+ 4gb ram.

Oh one more thing

NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB 16X PCI Express Video Card(Major Brand Power by NVIDIA)
OR
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 16X PCI Express[+£25]
Or
NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB 16X PCI Express[+£40]

Is there much difference between the 3 compared to the price? Thx <3

edit: is it worth getting crossfire 2 gfx cards?

im the top core because its 3.12ghz or w/e which is sick overclocked compared to the other.

And dont do dual sli or xfire cause its a waste of money imo unless you want to orgasim over the looks of crysis on high spec imo.

:)

Get the Quad core, get an 8800GTX, the GeForce 9 series is just a more power conserving version of the 8800 chipset.

Kthx for help.

Semi-final choice ordering tomorrow:

  • Bosse Galaxy III Mid Tower Black/ Side-panel Window
  • LC Silent Giant 550W Power Supply 140mm FAN
  • (Quad-Core)Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q6600 @ 2.4GHz 1066FSB 8MB L2 + paying more for better fan
  • (QX9650 support) Asus P5K SE/EPU Intel P35 Chipset LGA775 FSB1600 DDR2/800 Mainboard w/GbLAN,USB2.0,&7.1Audio
  • (Req.DDR2 MainBoard)4GB (2x2GB) PC6400 DDR2/800 Dual Channel Memory £23 extra for a better brand i heard that the basic cheap 4gb ram is shit
  • NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ 512MB 16X PCI Express
  • 500GB SATA-II 3.0Gb/s 16MB Cache 7200RPM HDD
  • SONY DUAL FORMAT 20X DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW DRIVE DUAL LAYER
  • PCI Wireless 802.11g 54Mbps Network Interface Card
  • Professional Wiring for All WIRINGs Inside The System Chasis with High Performance Thermal Compound on CPU()
  • Microsoft® Windows Vista™ Home Premium w/ Service Pack 1 32 BIT
  • Free T-shirt + Briefcase.

All of this falls to £4 below how much money i have in my bank. If i don't need to pay extra for better make of ram then i'll put the rest of money into a G15 or razer lycosa/tarantulaa.

Hope this was an interesting read  plx let me know if you spot an error i.e 550PSU not being enough? and the Ram thing? (light green are my still not sure's)Thanx in advance :)

Edit: I wont be overclocking in the near future. (When it gets older i will in like a year?)

There is no point in getting 4gb ram if your getting Windows 32 bit.

And I would also suggest the 4870 which is cheaper than the 9800 GTX and almost just as powerful.

nVidia = better support, less chance of failing hard within a month
4GB is a "May as well" situation, even if its a 32 bit OS

its well good i tried 3dmark but Either your hardware is too new, too old or too rare - we don't know enough of it to give an accurate estimation. Sorry.

Anyone know any other thing i can use to test it?
